Meet Laura

Laura Maskall
Head of Finance
My name is Laura Maskall, and I am currently the Head of Finance at Unimaq Limited, where I have worked for the past 15 years. I began my career with the company as an Accounts Assistant and, through hard work, dedication, and continuous professional development, I have progressed into a senior leadership role. This journey has given me extensive experience in financial management, budgeting, strategic planning, and leading business operations.
Since becoming a mother to my daughter, Evie, who is 14 months old, I have been fortunate to work from home, allowing me to balance my professional responsibilities with family life. This experience has strengthened my organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills, as well as reinforced the importance of flexibility and efficiency.
Why Unimaq?
Working at Unimaq has been an incredibly rewarding journey. Having been with the company for over 15 years, I’ve had the opportunity to grow from an Accounts Assistant to Head of Finance. That progression reflects not only my own development but also Unimaq’s commitment to recognising potential and investing in its people.
What I value most about Unimaq is the trust and support I’ve received throughout my career. I’ve been encouraged to take on new challenges, develop my skills, and contribute to the company’s continued success. Being part of a manufacturing business also means that every day brings something different, and I enjoy working closely with colleagues across the business to help drive performance and support informed decision-making.
The company’s flexible approach has also allowed me to successfully balance my professional responsibilities with family life. As a working mother, the opportunity to work from home has enabled me to continue progressing in my career while being present for my young daughter, something I greatly appreciate.
Most importantly, I enjoy being part of a business that values loyalty, teamwork, and continuous improvement. After more than 15 years, I remain proud to be part of Unimaq and excited about contributing to its future growth.

How I see the 2-piece industry
The two-piece can industry is a resilient and innovative sector that continues to evolve in response to changing consumer demand, sustainability goals, and technological advancements. As manufacturers and customers seek more environmentally friendly packaging solutions, aluminium cans are increasingly recognised for their recyclability and circular economy benefits, creating long-term opportunities for growth.
At the same time, the industry faces challenges including fluctuating raw material and energy costs, supply chain pressures, and increasing customer expectations around quality, service, and efficiency. Success will depend on businesses being agile, investing in innovation, maintaining strong customer relationships, and managing costs effectively while remaining competitive.
From a finance perspective, I believe robust financial management is essential to supporting sustainable growth. Careful planning, effective cost control, and strategic investment enable businesses to navigate market volatility while continuing to invest in people, technology, and operational improvements.
Overall, I see the two-piece can industry as one with strong long-term prospects, driven by sustainability, innovation, and the ongoing demand for reliable, high-quality packaging solutions.
Away from work life
Away from work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, especially making memories on days out together. I also have two dogs who keep life busy and are very much part of the family. When I’m at home, I enjoy taking on renovation projects and improving both my house and garden. I find it rewarding to see a project come together, and it’s a great way to unwind and keep active outside of work.
